how i spent my lollapalooza...or something

so are you ready for all my boring details about my lollapalooza experience?

good!

we left a little before noon, and got to jones beach around...2 something, i guess. we walked into the area with the shops and 2nd stage, and dad did the batting cages. he was pretty good! then we went into the main stage area, and dad went up to the seats, and me, randy, and kenny looked at the lil jewelry tents. i was trying to find a labret. they did have some 18's, but they were spikes, and i don't want a spike. so that's that. we went back to the second stage and saw the end of this billy talent band or guy, whatever it was...then we all got cool shirts at the anti-racism tent. we went to our seats and dropped off our crap with dad, who was enjoying the donnas or something. we went back to the second stage and caught the end of mc supernatural, who i honestly enjoyed. i think freestyling is cool. word.

boy sets fire came on at like 4:10...and they rocked, of course. nate was dressed in a super stylish bright yellow tshirt that said sexual positions across it 3 times, and a green john deere cap. can we say winner?

anyway, he looked like shit. no offense to him of course, i mean he looked sick or hungover, maybe both. his eyes were barely open at the beginning of the set. anyway, here comes a set list! (if anyone happens to know ANY of these songs, you know, or cares)

-release the dogs
-some old song i can't name:(
-some other old song i can't name:(
-last year's nest
-my life in the knife trade
-after the eulogy
-rookie

well that was pathetic, not only could i not name 2 of them, i don't even think thats the correct order! i suck!

anyway, they did an amazing show. the mosh pit didn't start until my life in the knife trade, and then it got CRAZY. which is odd, since that song is basically their slowest. but watching the bsf mosh pit is always entertaining.

some kid in the audience was meant to get the drummers drum stick, and i think he actually did but it got stolen by someone else, and nate saw that and was like "hey! that was for him!" and made sure he got him another one. how cute! then he let a little kid (maybe the same one) and his older brother come up on stage to get out of the DANGER ZONE and their mom was down there and he reassured her that they were ok. haha. he's the biggest sweetheart on the planet, i swear.

after they were done playing, he came down and talked/hugged anyone who cared to, and randy and kenny talked to him and hugged him, i was there but didn't do either, because i'm a pussy. but honestly, i'm ok with it. he's cool, whether i've hugged him or not. he was dirty anyway.

it was funny this one girl asked him if she could have a picture with him, and her boyfriend was there with the camera (he happened to be this big black dude) and he said "of course...did you think i was gonna say no?" and then he saw the guy and he was like...."he'd kick my ass if i did!" and some other girl started to hug him, felt how disgusting he was and totally recoiled, it was so fucking funny. he said "yeah, i'm sorry, i know i need a bath" so so cute.

after that...the music played the second stage, and once again blew me away with their amazingness. listen to this band. they are so good. i dare you to try and listen to em without moving around, it's impossible. the lead singer like oozes this confidence, which is great because he's so terribly ugly. he will ALWAYS get the ladies.

after the music were finished, we headed back to the main stage and sat with my dad, who immediately left to get a lemon ice. the bastard, didnt even offer me one! we were all starving by then, it was after 5:30 and we hadn't eaten since 11 or earlier, and we didn't wanna leave and get food cuz we had to crawl over 8000 people and then do it again to come back, plus queens of the stone age were playing and i kinda wanted to see them.

in short, qotsa pretty much sucked, and a dude who looked freakishly like kevin bacon joined them on stage to sing a few songs. i think the shittiness can mostly be blamed on the fact that their instruments were way too fucking loud, something was off down there, i'm not sure what, but god damn, it was pretty terrible.

then there was only 20 minutes until incubus!

and then....incubus came out to these noises from the super mario bros game, and it was cool because i love that game. but anyway...i'll just start out with my approximate set list here: (these were the songs, order is pretty close to right, may not be dead on)

-warning
-nice to know you
-make yourself
-the warmth
-brand new song!!!
-stellar
-circles
-vitamin
-another brand new song!!!
-privilege
-wish you were here

brandon was wearing a black shirt and some tight black pants, which was interesting since he usually wears some baggy ass pants. but i'm not complaining. he was clean shaven! and also lovely. everyone else in the band hasn't changed, and the new bassist looked pretty cool. brandon made us say hi to him! and kept pointing at him and stuff. right before circles, brandon took his shirt off and they got the loudest cheer of the night when that happened.

so fucking SAD!

he kept saying thank you jones beach, or just thank you, or just jones beach, and the guy behind me got really mad after one particular jones beach that he screamed "why don't you say jones beach one more time, dickhead???" which i thought was terribly inappropriate. but apparently this was the same guy that was screaming about his desire to be in brandon's pants so..uhh...moving on!

brandon seems a lot more comfortable on stage now, he moves around a lot more and looks like he has a lot more confidence. maybe it has something to do with the fact that people orgasm all over the place when he takes his shirt off!

also, and this is the coolest thing in the world....his voice got better! he sounded beautiful. i've seen incubus 4 times before this, i KNOW what he sounds like live, and it was never bad, but tonight it was AMAZING! he must have taken lessons or practiced his ass off or something, but he was great. just...wow.

oh and another rocking thing...the 2 new songs they played...didnt sound like morning view stuff at all. or make yourself stuff. it was loud and rowdy and angry and i loved every second of it. i can't WAIT for their new album. in the first new song he sang, where he said step up alot, i'm pretty sure he was singing (growling?) something like "you're no jesus, you're no elvis" it was cool.

and at one point, after asking us if we were having fun yet, he continued by asking us if we were wet yet. it was the strangest thing. haha, no one really knew how to react. there was like this weird silence. he made this weird grimacing face, like he didn't mean to say that, or realized he maybe shouldn't have, or something. i don't know. it was cute though.

i was a little disappointed that they only did one song from science, but it was cool because they put a little jam thing at the end of it. and brandon got to play his drum. and shake his shakey thing.

after incubus...we left. didn't stay for audioslave or jane's addiction. i know maybe we should have, but none of us care that much for them and getting home at 3am was not high on our priority lists!

so that was it, lollapalooza. yep. now i have 3 straight days of 3-10 shifts at work. gaaahhhhh why god why??
